What are ferrets?

Ferrets are domestic cousins of weasels and otters. Ferrets do not exist in the wild. Ferrets are very friendly which makes ferrets excellent pets. Ferrets are very playful and rarely stay still. Ferrets are smart and inquisitive.

The black footed ferret

Domestic ferrets are not the same as the endangered black footed ferrets. The black footed ferret is a small carnivore. The black-footed ferret has been an endangered mammal in North America since 1967.
